What is EPC?
An EPC will assess your building for energy performance.
The EPC certificate contains:
- information about a property’s energy use and typical energy costs
- recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money
An EPC gives a property an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and is valid for 10 years, unless you make changes in the building.

Future EPC Requirements
The government has committed to upgrade as many private rented sector homes as possible to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C by 2030, where practical, cost-effective and affordable. Please visit GOV web site for more information on future EPC requirements in the UK.
EPC Penalties
Failure to comply with the regulations or a request to produce relevant documents from an enforcer may result in the issue of a penalty charge notice.
In the case of a dwelling, the penalty is £200.
